Reception and Year 1 - Willow Class
Summer 1 - Beats and Boogies
Even though this term has been a short one it has been crammed full of learning and our topic of Beats and Boogies has been great fun!
In Literacy we have looked at a variety of poems and books – with a firm favourite being ‘Giraffes can’t dance’ by Giles Andraea. The children found this story hilarious and loved making story maps and enjoyed acting out the events that happened.
In maths this term, Year One began to look at fractions and are now great at halves and quarters of amounts and shapes. They have also looked at prepositional language and had fun learning about turns – quarter, half and full. The Reception children have learnt all about teen numbers, sharing equally, odd and even numbers and doubles.
In Geography, Willow Class have learnt about where the Djembe Drum originates from and exploring where Africa is in the world. They have also compared the African country of Kenya to England and how things are the same and different.
DT has been great fun this term – the children got to design and make their very own musical instrument and then perform with them to the rest of the class. In PE the children have been learning Tennis skills. Willow class have also been learning about parts of a flower and trees in Science this term and enjoyed looking very carefully all the parts of a tulip.
