School Council

Welcome to our school council page!

Our school council members for 2023/24 were elected by their classmates, and our head boy and girl, who are also part of the school council, presented their speeches to the whole school community and were elected by staff members.

Head Girl – Charlotte
Head Boy – Oscar

Willow class representative – Ollie
Ash class representatives – Rose and Ayliea
Oak class representatives – Harvey and William

The remit of their role includes supporting the school in organising events, helping children pastorally, assisting adults with tasks and acting as excellent ambassadors in upholding our core vision and values.

The school council’s first job this year was to take part in the Friends of the Tenth remembrance service, laying flowers on the Borough memorial to represent the school.

They have organised several charity fundraising events so far this year. In September, they ran a very successful cake sale for Macmillan, in November they organised a ‘beat the teachers’ challenge for Children in Need, and in March they planned an afternoon of fun to raise money for Comic Relief, including a disco, design a red nose paper plate competition and no-laughing competition.

School Council Autumn Term Debate

Each term the school council have a debate topic, which they talk about in their meetings and with their classes, then feed back to the school. The Autumn term debate question is ‘What makes a good citizen?’ Thinking about this question helped them develop their action plan for the year, which included raising money for charity and taking care of the environment.

School Council Spring Term Debate

The school council’s Spring Term debate topic was ‘How can we look after our world?’ They delivered an assembly to the whole school to help them understand how to save energy, and we have become much better at turning off lights and computers as a result.
