Reception and Year 1 (Willow Class)

This term has been a jammed pack one with lots of extra fun activities going on. We have had our wonderful school production where Willow class were sensational scout skunks, sports day, forest school visits, whole school trip to Rushcliffe country park, transition mornings and our very own Pirate Day.

Our Topic this term of ‘Ocean Commotion’ has led Willow class to read some great books to base their English work around. Our favourite was The Snail and the Whale where the children role-played, sequenced and wrote all about the story.

In Maths this term EYFS have learnt about patterns, shapes, capacity and number bonds. Year 1 have been looking at money, time and place value to 100.

In P.E, the children have been learning the skills in athletics. They have been practising throwing, catching, running and jumping.

We had History this term and looked at the life of a famous pirate – Grace O’Malley. The children enjoyed finding out about her adventures and plotting them on our timeline. We also looked at oceans in Geography and can now name all 5!

In art the children have been exploring 3D structure which ended with the children making fabulous models out of clay.
