Years 2 and 3 (Ash Class)

Nurturing Nurses

This half-term has been short but sweet! We have been delving into our big question ‘how has nursing changed?’ through our history learning. We have enjoyed learning about how nurses Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell have made a difference to nursing. We learned all about their lives, their similarities, differences and the impact they have made on modern nursing.

We have been refining our throwing, catching and batting skills in cricket this half term. We practised aiming, overarm throwing and moving to catch the ball.

In RE, we have been learning all about how Christian’s believe Jesus brought good news. We learned that the good news was friendship, forgiveness and peace. As part of our learning we role played the story of Jesus and Matthew, the tax man. We also tried to forgive 490 times just like Christian’s believe Jesus did!

In our English lessons, we have written fantastic fact files all about Florence Nightingale! We have also channelled our inner Florence Nightingale by following instructions to apply plasters and then we wrote our own version to help others!
