School Council
Welcome to our school council page!
Our school council members for 2025/26 were elected by their classmates, and our head boy and girl who are also part of the school council, presented their speeches to the whole school community and were elected by staff members.
Head girl – Aurora-Jessica
Head boy – William
Willow class representative – Holly and Hamish
Ash class representatives – Jasper and Leo
Oak class representatives – Bridget and Annabelle
The remit of their role includes supporting the school in organising events, helping children pastorally, assisting adults with tasks and acting as excellent ambassadors in upholding our core vision and values.
Our school council have started the year with fantastic enthusiasm and are already proving themselves to be wonderful ambassadors for our school, coming up with great ideas to enrich the experiences of the children at Somerby.
They started the year representing the school at the Friends of the Tenth memorial service at the Borough 10th Battalion War Memorial. It was our best ever turnout of school council members, and we were incredibly proud of them. Several school council members also attended the Remembrance Sunday service and laid poppy wreaths. They were presented with certificates by Alec and Jeannie from the Friends of the Tenth.

Charity events that school council have been involved with this term have included a very successful MacMillan cake sale which raised a mighty £179, and fundraising for Children in Need.

They have already come up with some super ideas to improve the experiences of children at our school including better playground equipment and a Somerby’s Got Talent event, which we will be organising in the new year.
