Welcome

Welcome to Somerby Primary School!

Somerby is a close-knit community-based school where children are valued and helped to achieve their best.  They are supported and nurtured to become confident and independent people who love to learn and enjoy a challenge!  All schools have their own distinctive 'feel' which makes them unique.  We think the special feeling you get at Somerby comes from our caring, supportive and friendly environment.

Somerby is a happy and creative school, and the staff make it their mission to teach exciting, engaging and fun lessons that help children develop.  I am proud to be part of such a wonderful school, and proud to work with such committed and passionate staff who want to provide the very best opportunities for the children in our care whilst looking after their well-being and making sure they achieve high standards in their learning.  The staff make sure that what the children learn is exciting, interesting and engaging - they make sure children develop their skills and get a life-long love for learning.

Please also find attached a poster version of our School Development Plan (SDP) for this year.

We write a new SDP each year to help us focus on areas of the school we wish to get even better. We like having a poster version to share with parents and carers (as well as with children) because it helps everyone know what we are working on as a school. There are also copies up around the building (including in each classroom) so our children know what we want to work on as a school. Teachers talk about the poster to their classes too.

Throughout the year we make sure we focus on these areas and do all we can to make them great – and as a staff team we will regularly talk what we have done and what we want to do next.

To find out about our school we encourage you to come and visit.  You can see everyone in action and meet the staff and children.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school office to arrange this!

We look forward to welcoming you to our school, and to a happy and successful partnership with all our new children and families.

Thanks,

Steve Nash
